AN INITIATIVE to help essential workers onto the property ladder has been supporting homebuyers across Cheshire and is available on new homes in Daresbury.

Redrow’s Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme now supports a wide group of frontline and community professionals.

Since its launch earlier this year, around 20% of all Redrow reservations on new homes in the North West have been taken under the Key Worker scheme.

Originally introduced to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS, the scheme has now been broadened to include social workers, nursery workers, pharmacists and a wider cohort of NHS staff, care workers and professionals across vital public services.

Eligible key workers now include those in the NHS and healthcare, education, police, fire and rescue services, Ministry of Defence, environmental services, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Transport for Wales, probation and prison services, local authorities, RNLI, foster carers, care home staff, social workers, nursery workers and early years educators, pharmacists and blue light card holders.

Under the scheme, buyers receive a £1,000 deposit contribution for every £20,000 of a home’s purchase price. For example, on a £250,000 home, an eligible key worker would receive £12,500 towards their deposit.

The scheme is now available at two of Redrow’s flagship Daresbury Garden Village phases: Keckwick Park and Gleaves View

Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Daresbury-based Redrow NW, said: “Our Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme has already helped 64 key workers and their families to into a brand new, energy efficient Redrow home in the North West.

“While mortgage rates are beginning to ease, many buyers still need support to access a home that fits their needs. Through our expanded Key Worker scheme, we’re ensuring that those who provide essential frontline and community services can secure a home of their own, at a time when they need it most.”

A major new community is taking shape at Daresbury Garden Village, where work is well underway on two major phases of the development. Once complete, the scheme will comprise around 800 new homes over 120 acres, alongside a wide range of community amenities.

Prices at Gleaves View currently start from £450,000, while homes at Keckwick Park start from £342,000. Buyers can view show homes and take virtual tours via the interactive technology available in the customer experience suites at both phases.
