Summer is starting to fade away and into winter we go. Now is the time to start thinking about booking your next summer holiday – the sooner you book it, the greater the savings you may get! Plus it gives you something to look forward to in the new year. Often if you book in advance you will find a variety of deals that you can make the most of. Some companies will include certain clauses that if a better deal is to come up in the future, then they will price match it to entice you to book now.

So what type of holiday are you thinking of booking next year? There are so many different types of breaks you can choose from, you could book Avalon’s ayahuasca retreats for a holistic breakaway. You could opt for a city break, a beach break or maybe you fancy trying something different like a cruise or a road trip – these are both great for seeing multiple destinations in one trip.

To help start you with your research, below are our tips for choosing your next holiday destination.

What types of activities would you like to do?

When deciding on your next holiday, start by asking yourself the type of activities you would like to do. This can have a big bearing on where you decide to go and can help narrow down some of the destinations that you can choose from. Are you looking to go skiing? Would you like to take on some water sports? How does hiking sound? Are there any sports you would like to try like volleyball? Tennis? These can all help you when deciding on a destination.

What type of holiday would you like to go on?

We touched on it above, another way to help narrow down your choices is to decide on the type of holiday you would like to go on. Have you been on a cruise holiday before or would you like to give one ago? Did you want to travel abroad next year or would you prefer a staycation? What about a beach holiday or a city break? You could combine a few of the options by planning a road trip from somewhere in the city for a couple of days then heading to a sun and beach destination.

Who is going with you?

What are your thoughts on traveling alone and going on a solo trip? Or will you be going with your family? Your children? Or is it a romantic breakaway that you would like to go on with your partner? This will quickly help narrow down some of the destinations for you. For a romantic break, you may be looking for adult-only hotels whilst for a family break, you will be looking for places that have a lot of variety so that there is something for everyone. When booking with others, we find it’s helpful to create a spreadsheet and ask everyone to put down their suggestions. This way you can all get together and debate on where you are going to go and get it booked – this helps everyone to feel included in the decision.
