Children at Walton Nursey and Early Years Centre in Liverpool have shown parents that they really know how to put on a show after their recreation of Glastonbury Festival at nursery this week.
Staff and pupils at the nursery on Cavendish Drive showed that a summer of festivals was still possible as they created ‘Bubblebury,’ a home-made festival complete with its own Pyramid stage, tents and – of course – lots of mud!
The children enjoyed an action-packed afternoon performing some of their favourite songs whilst parents and fellow pupils cheered them on from the school yard. The festival ensured that the pupils were still able to show off their singing voices and best dance moves despite the recent cancellation of Glastonbury Festival due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Nursery practitioner, Rachael Ashcroft, the creator of ‘Bubblebury’ at Walton Nursery and Early Years Centre has said that the nursery festival was a “resounding success” and believes it could become a regular occurrence at the nursery.
Rachael said: “The children have absolutely loved helping to create their own festival and it has been amazing to welcome them back after what has been a difficult couple of months. The children have not stopped moving all week and it has been difficult to concentrate on building the stage and coordinating the acts at times due to all the laughing and giggling.”
Jennifer Williams, early years teacher said “it was really important for us to support children’s mental health and well-being upon their return to nursery given current circumstances and I knew I could rely on Rachael to create such an amazing and exciting learning environment for our children.”
Walton Nursery and Early Years Centre operates a term time only provision for children who are eligible for the 2 & 3-year-old funding. The service is operated by Ambito Education, part of the Salutem Group.
