Creative consultants working on culture and heritage project Great Place: Lakes and Dales (GPLD) are starting a series of ‘Bob Up’ events with a drop-in at Kendal in August.

Emily Wilson and France Leigh Hadrysiak, will be ‘bobbing up’ all over the Lakes and Dales over the next few months and would like to talk to residents, business owners, community leaders and all those in between about what the current creative offer is for the area and how that could be enhanced to help meet the project aims.

Said France-Leigh: “These ‘Bob Up’ events are a chance to introduce yourself, share your ideas and tell us how we could help make ideas reality. Start a conversation, make a connection and begin a journey. By working together we can make this project a success.”

GPLD is a Heritage Lottery and Arts Council England funded programme to use culture and heritage to encourage new generations to live, work and play in the South Lakes and Craven area.

There are lots of strands to the programme, including people looking at digital connectivity, housing options, access to job and business opportunities, researching what people think and the arts and creative offer and opportunities of the area.

The firstBob Up’ will be Thursday August 2 at Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. Find France-Leigh in the Intro Bar from 2pm to 6pm. ‘Bob Up’ will then occur on the first Thursday of every month, moving to different locations across the Lakes and Dales area. Follow Twitter @GP_LakesDales, Facebook /Great Place: Lakes and Dales or Instagram /greatplace_lakesanddales to keep up to date. You can also email create@lakesanddales.org if you have any questions or want to meet and can’t make it to a ‘Bob Up’.

The project is managed via a partnership of local authorities and funding organisations, led by Craven District Council.
