Padiham’s fourth aquathlon promises to be bigger and better than ever before and experienced athletes and amateurs are invited to take on the challenge.
The annual event, on Sunday 2 nd April, is made up of a 600m swim at the local leisure centre followed by a 5km run taking in the Padiham Greenway.
Last year the event was a big success with more than 100 athletes completing the course.
To enter online go to burnleyleisure.co.uk/activity/padiham-aquathlon. Competitors for the aquathlon must be aged 14 years or over.
Garry Stein, assistant manager at Burnley Leisure, said: “Whether they are professional level competitors or complete beginners, all entrants are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome from us. The event is a great opportunity for people to try a new type of event and I would encourage everyone to book early as the number of participants is limited.”
Youngsters aged 8 and 13 are also welcome to join the multi-sport event and test their strength in the junior aquathlon taking place on the same day.
There will be different swimming and running distances for the youngest participants based on their age.
The junior aquathlon run has now a new course which takes in laps around the new wooden sculptures at the bottom of Memorial park on the Padiham Greenway.
