Greater Manchester Councils are working with energy provider E.ON to help residents with energy saving home improvements, including a free or subsidised boiler, cavity wall and loft insulation.
Low-income households who get certain employment, disability, age or child related benefits may be able to get these new energy saving home improvements. To qualify you also need to own your own home or rent privately. You don’t have to be an E.ON customer.
Residents can contact E.ON on 0800 508 8008 or apply on their website www.eonenergy.com/energyheroes
This partnership is one of the many initiatives run by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). In fact, the GMCA has recently exceeded Government targets to become the first authority in the country to complete the Green Deal Communities programme.
1248 households in the region, including in Stockport, have received radical energy efficient improvements to their homes and the programme was delivered within budget.
Councillor Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Housing, said: “The success of these energy efficient measures has meant that residents are a lot warmer in their homes and their energy bills will be lower. The external insulation has also significantly improved the appearance and extended the life of these homes.”
