A new report into business travel across the UK has revealed that a third (32 per cent) of business travellers spend most time in Manchester when away for work compared to any other UK city.
The research, commissioned by exclusive new accommodation brand CitySuites looked into business traveller trends across the whole of the UK.
The survey of business travellers showed that almost half (44%) travel most regularly to London for business trips followed by Manchester (32 per cent) and Edinburgh (26 per cent).
Most people travelling to Manchester for work come from London and the South East, the Midlands and from elsewhere across the North West region.
The research also showed that most business travellers prefer to travel by car (38 per cent) and the average budget for overnight stays while on business is £101-£150.
The main drivers for choosing accommodation were location, followed by price.
CitySuites, which is set to launch its first residence aimed at business travellers in Manchester in January 2017, is located on Chapel Street, overlooking Embankment square. It aims to revolutionise the current accommodation available to the corporate and residential market by delivering properties that are more liveable than hotels, more personal than serviced apartments and more desirable than any other apartment.
The first images of the building were recently released, showing the 17 storey building featuring a range of studios, one and two-bedroom apartments available for guests to stay on a short-term basis, from as little as a week, with options up to 12-months and beyond. CitySuites also includes a number of residential ‘super suites’ on the top floors. All guests and residents benefit from the use of excellent leisure facilities, dedicated valet parking and a 24/7 service team.
Gavin Bailey, CitySuites operations director, said: “This research proves yet again that Manchester is a leading location for business, attracting large volumes of travellers to the city to work with leading organisations such as The Co-operative, BBC and Google.
“That’s why we decided to launch a brand new accommodation proposition to the market, providing domestic and international city-centre visitors on business with the ideal place to call home, whether it’s for just a few days or longer. CitySuites combines the comforts of home with the luxury touches of a hotel; an offering which has never before been available for business travellers in Manchester.
“Enabling guests to enjoy stylish surroundings in the heart of the city, we’re offering the best possible service to do our bit to ensure that Manchester continues to attract business travellers in their droves to the city.”
The Greater Manchester economy generates £56 billion of gross value added (GVA) on an annual basis, higher than the GVA of various regions, including North East (£45 billion), West Yorkshire (£46 billion), Merseyside (£27 billion), and accounting for nearly 40 per cent of GVA in the North West 1.
