Leading care home operator New Care has promoted Sammy Jacklin to the position of senior wellbeing coordinator working across its two homes in Stockport, Cheadle Manor and Bramhall Manor.
Prior to her promotion, Sammy was a carer and senior carer at Cheadle Manor before moving to a wellbeing role from which she has never looked back.
In her role as senior wellbeing coordinator, she is responsible for planning and managing an exciting programme of activities that support and engage residents in both homes including all individuals across the residential, nursing and dementia communities.
Her main objective is to ensure the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of all residents at both Cheadle Manor and Bramhall Manor by delivering high quality daily events and activities in the home, along with excursions and trips where appropriate, and also liaise with families to maintain wellbeing plans and uphold care compliance standards.
Her new role also includes mentoring other members of the team and building connections with the wider local communities in Cheadle and Bramhall to enhance residents’ quality of life.
Incredibly proud of her achievements and newly created position as senior wellbeing coordinator, Sammy has worked at Cheadle Manor since it launched in 2020 and has been part of the home’s success story from opening with just one resident to a thriving and busy family of 64.
She said: “I am so proud to work for New Care, now Lovett Care, and everything we have achieved in Stockport. My main aspirations in this new role are to enhance the overall wellbeing and quality of life for every person in both homes, and create a consistent, person-centred wellbeing approach that reflects each individual’s needs and interests while also encouraging family engagement and community involvement.
“Working with my team, I will streamline activity planning at both homes and ensure all activities are well coordinated and contribute meaningfully to everyone’s health and happiness.”
Prior to joining New Care five years ago, Sammy worked with end-of-life patients as a health care support worker supporting individuals and their families in their own homes. Following this, she moved into working within the community to deliver care to individuals wishing to remain in their own homes
Deputy managing director at New Care, Dawn Collett, added: “Sammy is a fantastic asset to our team. She remains passionate about ensuring life doesn’t stop in older age and takes pride in creating opportunities for people to stay active, connected, and fulfilled whether that’s through the daily activities that she organises, getting the wider community involved or thoughtful one-to-one moments. She has really excelled at Cheadle Manor and we’re delighted to extend her role to include Bramhall Manor too.”
“Helping individuals maintain their identity and dignity in later life, or even end-of-life is at the heart of everything that I do,” continues Sammy, “Ensuring someone feels good about themselves, with a smile, a laugh or a hug, whether they are a resident or a member or staff, or have been with us for two days or two years, is so important. Everyone deserves to be well cared for and that’s what we do at New Care/Lovett Care.”
Living locally in Stockport, Sammy is married with a daughter who pops into the care home frequently and has a wonderful connection with the residents. When not working, Sammy enjoys spending time with family and friends and runs her own social media account sharing ideas and reviews to help parents and guardians find fun, family-friendly places to visit.
