It’s been an incredible year or so for Liverpool fans. After coming an agonising second to Manchester City by a couple of points in the 18/19 Premier League season, a Champions League victory, and further silverware followed via the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Success in these competitions was compounded by Klopp’s men finally clinching the Premier League for the red half of Merseyside after a 30- year wait, and with the squad and team spirit that the enigmatic German manager has masterminded, further glory is almost guaranteed over the coming seasons.
But the good news doesn’t stop there for Liverpool fans. To celebrate the Red’s Championship Season this year, Anfield Index have teamed up with WhichBookie for a stunning chance to claim £250 of boss Liverpool merchandise!
Competition hopefuls will need to cast their mind back to Liverpool’s last top- flight success in 1989-90. This was another vintage season for the Reds, who began the campaign with Charity Shield success over Arsenal whom they narrowly last to in last week’s season curtain raiser.
The 1989-90 squad featured a roster of players who have since gone down in the annals of Liverpool history, including Peter Beardsley, Ian Rush and the legendary John Barnes who smashed home 22 goals in the league as Liverpool finished nine points clear of second place Aston Villa.
Whilst Liverpool fans will therefore remember a squad filled with once-in-a-generation talent, to secure the £250 worth of merch, they will need to recall the manager who guided Liverpool’s stars to their championship in 1990.
