Owners of Sure Hotel by Best Western Lockerbie have pledged to support local scout and daughter, Erin Wright, by organising a charity event and hosting a silent auction on their Facebook page, in order to help raise funds for the scout to take herself and a third-world child to the world’s largest Jamboree in America.
Erin Wright is 14 years old and is part of Moffat Scout Group. Erin went through an interview process and was chosen to be part of the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia and must raise all her own funds, which in turn will also pay for a third-world child to also attend the Jamboree. Having raised £1500, the scout still has £2500 to go.
Sure Hotel by Best Western Lockerbie proprietors, Glen and Louise Wright, are set to back young Erin and are offering different ways of support. The hotel will be hosting a charity afternoon on the 16th of June, where people can purchase tickets for £25, and receive 5 gins and 5 tapas dishes per guest. The hotel will also be unveiling their brand new outdoor terrace area, and indoor function room; which is the largest in the area – seating 200 people. Erin will also be hosting a raffle on the day, in order to try and secure maximum donations.
The hotel has also decided to host a silent auction on their Facebook page. The hotel is offering up people to place secret bids via direct message, for prizes of a cocktail party for 12, and afternoon tea with prosecco for 8. The person offering the highest bid will be unveiled during the charity event and all proceeds will be going straight into the scout’s fund.
