The North West branch of Mobile Mini UK, based in Liverpool, is celebrating this month after being awarded a Merit from the British Safety Council.
Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards span all sectors with significant representation from construction, manufacturing, oil, gas, mining, power and utility organisations. This accolade receives over 500 applications from all around the world with winners being drawn from 37 countries, but only 155 companies achieved Merit status over the past calendar year. Three of those achievers are branches of Mobile Mini, hailing from Liverpool, Sunderland and Bridgend, respectively.
The International Safety Awards scheme is not an industry requirement and is designed to showcase those companies who go above and beyond to protect employees from the risk of injury and ill health at work, whilst also recognising organisations that show commitment to wellbeing and mental health. All three of the Mobile Mini branches that entered were required to individually answer a robust series of questions about their management of health and safety risks, as well as providing evidence of leadership, change management and engagement to be assessed by a team of independent chartered health and safety professionals.
A Merit from the British Safety Council recognises an ongoing commitment to keeping workers and workplaces healthy and safe. This is particularly impressive this year considering the unforeseen obstacles and challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic over the last 12 months. Recognisable businesses to have successfully obtained passes, merits or distinctions from these awards previously include the likes of BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, Sodexho, Kier, Wilmott Dixon and Volker.
On being announced as one of this year’s recipients, Paul Abbot, Mobile Mini Senior Branch Manager, North West & Cumbria, said, “We are very honoured to have received the International Safety Award this shows we take our employees and customers safety seriously.”
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Mobile Mini on their success in winning an International Safety Award 2021 with a Merit, he said, “The British Safety Council applauds Mobile Mini on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and hard work to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill-health. The vision of the British Safety Council is that no one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit.”
In addition to these latest safety accolades, Mobile Mini has rolled out life-saving defibrillator equipment to all of its UK branches this year. The company employs approximately 370 members of staff and never forgets that its people are its most valuable asset.
