Local law firm Aaron & Partners has delivered a free workshop offering expert advice for businesses on looking after the mental health and wellbeing of employees who are working from home.

The firm’s specialist employment team joined forces with leading mental health charity, Wirral Mind, to answer a range of questions, covering employee rights & employer obligations and giving practical tips to employers about dealing with the impact working from home has had on mental health.

Almost 70 delegates attended the online session, which was hosted by Paul Hennity and Steven Davies – Employment Law Solicitors at Aaron & Partners, in partnership with Rachel Gilbert, Training Manager at Wirral Mind.

Paul said: “The coronavirus pandemic has caused huge disruption to our lives, both at home and within the workplace and the impact on people’s mental health continues to be significant. For employers and HR professionals it has been a challenging period to navigate and as we work through the second national lockdown, we felt it was important to provide our support and advice.

“During the session we covered a range of different topics, and by allowing attendees to submit questions we were able to address everyone’s concerns. By partnering up with Wirral Mind for this session, we were able to cover both the legal aspects of mental health within the workplace as well as exploring practical ways employers can support their employees’ wellbeing.

Wirral Mind is a fantastic local charity and it was a pleasure to work with Rachel to deliver this session, which received really positive feedback from those who attended.”

Wirral Mind is a non-profit organisation that offers services for people with mental health needs in the local community, including a mental health resource centre, one-to-one counselling sessions, a befriending service and workplace training and workshops.

“COVID-19 and the subsequent national and regional lockdowns has hugely affected all of our lives in one way or another and has created a lot of uncertainty for everyone,” added Rachel.

“It’s this uncertainty that leads to fear and anxiety and has a significant impact on people’s mental health”

“Employers must recognise that everyone’s experience of this pandemic will be so different, and employees are all facing a period of loss; whether that’s the loss of a loved one, relationships, support networks, income, freedom or even loss of routine – we’ve all experienced challenges during this period.

“That’s why it’s fantastic to see Aaron & Partners proactively offering support to employers, and we were very happy to be involved in this fantastic webinar. We had some really insightful questions submitted and were able to cover a number of really important topics during the session.”
