Taking place on Friday, 19th August, between 11am and 3pm in Charter Walk Shopping Centre, the free event promises to be a fun-filled experience for all who visit.
There will be something on for all the ages including face painting, healthy eating and exercise advice as well as MOT health checks.
People will also have the opportunity to hop on a smoothie bike and whizz up healthy drinks whilst burning calories at the same time.
The Up and Active team will be on hand to offer support registering to their website and exploring the host of activities available.
Linda Searle, head of health and wellbeing, said: “Our event will not only be a great celebration of what our service has to offer but residents and visitors can expect a fun-filled day with entertainment, face painting, smoothie bike and freebies to name just a few.
“I would encourage families to pop down to Burnley town centre and get involved with this special event; it really has something for everyone.”
Commissioned by Lancashire County Council, Up and Active is a new service encouraging people to lose weight and live a more active and healthy lifestyle.
It will focus on tackling obesity and encouraging people to manage their weight. It will also help them become more physically active.
Delivered in partnership with leisure trusts, district councils and other groups, Up & Active will target people in most need of support, who meet the criteria for the service.
Linda added: “Regular physical activity can reduce the risk of many chronic conditions including coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, obesity, mental health problems and musculoskeletal conditions.
“The Up & Active team will support you to achieve the recommended activity levels of 30 minutes on at least five days a week.”
