A Lake District hotel has this month been shortlisted for five major awards for its marketing efforts.

The Daffodil Hotel & Spa in Grasmere has received national and regional recognition for marketing work undertaken during its closure at the hands of Storm Desmond. The hotel, which sits on the shores of Grasmere, reopened again in July and its award-winning spa reopened earlier this month.

Whilst closed for seven months for a full refurbishment to its ground floor, The Daffodil team created a relaunch plan, led by a full re-brand, new website and the quirky social media focused ‘Daffodil at Home’ campaign, which saw more than 1000 boxes packed with Daffodil luxuries sent out to be enjoyed at home. The boxes campaign specifically was so popular that the second phase of ‘Daffodil at Home’ boxes were all allocated via online sign up in just three minutes.

Both the Daffodil at Home campaign and the overall relaunch campaign have now been shortlisted in the 2016 Northern Marketing Awards in the ‘Tourism & Leisure’ and ‘Low Budget’ categories and in the 2016 UK Social Media Communications Awards in the ‘Best Use of Social Media in a Crisis’ and ‘Low Budget’ categories. The final nomination is in the 2016 CN Business Awards ‘Best Use of Media’ category.

Laura Wolstenholme, Head of Marketing & Sales at The Daffodil Hotel & Spa, said: “Being shortlisted in such prestigious awards is great news for us and fantastic recognition of the marketing work carried out here at The Daffodil.”

“We’ve always had a strong and very active customer following across a range of media channels so, for us, it was all about engaging with our loyal followers as well as making new audiences aware of The Daffodil. The last nine months have been a challenging time and we wanted to ensure we stayed at the front of everyone’s minds even whilst we were closed and we’re delighted to have achieved this.”

The Daffodil relaunch campaign resulted in increased visits to the hotel’s website http://www.daffodilhotel.co.uk  and social media channels as well as a substantial increase in bookings for the months ahead.

The Northern Marketing Awards take place in Manchester on Wednesday 19th October and the UK Social Media Communications Awards take place in London on Thursday 3rd November. The CN Business Awards will be held in Windermere on Thursday 20th October.
