Three nurseries in Stockport: Freshfield Nursery School in Heaton Mersey, Little Giggles Private Day Nursery & Preschool Great Moor and Charnwood Trust in Heaton Moor have made successful bids for government funding.
The cash has been awarded to build, expand and refurbish premises to meet the demand of delivering the new 30-hour childcare offer which comes into effect in September 2017.
They are among 200 nurseries and pre-schools in England that shared national funding that will create nearly 9,000 more funded places for three-and four-year-olds when the free entitlement rises from 15 to 30 hours in September 2017.The new entitlement to extended free childcare is intended to support working parents with the cost of childcare.
Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick – Executive Member for Early Years and Education said: “This is great news for Stockport; the extra childcare places will enable local, eligible working parents to save thousands each year in childcare costs.”
