Councillor Colin Foster met the young people from the project RECLAIM and learnt all about what the project offers and how the charity has helped them.

RECLAIM is a leadership charity supporting working class young people to be seen and heard and lead to meaningful social change.

The project is currently delivering their core programme, LEAD, which is for 12 and 13 year olds who live in Brinnington and Adswood areas. LEAD is a two year programme for young people for from working class communities which facilitates their personal development as ethical young leaders who can create positive social change.

Councillor Colin Foster, Executive member for Children and Family Services, said: “It was great to meet the young people who are a part of the charity RECLAIM and to see the work they have been doing to help get their voices heard.

“I think it’s very important that all young people have the same opportunities in life, it shouldn’t depend on your social background, that’s why charities like RECLAIM are so important.”
