Stockport Council wants to make sure that local households across Stockport are energy efficient and cheaper to run.

There are a number of schemes available to help those who are having trouble keeping up with the costs of the fuel bills and to stay warm this winter, including:

• Stockport Homes Tenants
Stockport Homes Energy Team are available to offer support and advice to their tenants on energy saving and fuel bill advice.

• Fuel bills & Affordable Warmth

Fuel Bill sessions are available to assist Stockport residents who do not have access to the internet, offering advice on getting the best deal for them. These are held in Fred Perry House on the 1st Wednesday of the month, in the afternoons, by appointment only.

The Affordable Warmth in Stockport service can also help to refer vulnerable clients for a range of local services, including home repairs, advice for older people and those with disabilities, and access to grants and trust funds.

• E.ON Energy Heroes
Greater Manchester Councils are working with the energy provider E.ON to help residents improve their home with energy saving home improvements, including loft and cavity wall or replacing faulty or broken boilers.

Residents could* qualify for a free or discounted boiler and insulation, saving £500 a year on their energy bills
*subject to survey, eligibility and availability

Residents are encouraged to call Freephone 0800 508 0800 to check if they qualify. You do not need to be an E.ON customer to apply.
Councillor Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Housing, said: “Energy efficient measures can make residents a lot warmer in their homes and lower their energy bills, that’s why the Council is always encouraging those who might be struggling to get in touch with us and check what help is available.”
