We saw the return of Premier League football on Friday night, and it was another exciting opening weekend, with some memorable moments.

Coming top of the pile with 35.9% of the vote was David Beckham’s iconic half-way line strike against Wimbledon. Beckham’s infamous long-range classic shot him to stardom on the opening day of the 1996/97 season, in a campaign which saw Manchester United lift the trophy.
It was another memorable Manchester United moment which came second in the list (15.4%), when Aston Villa’s 3-1 opening day victory in 1995 at Villa Park prompted pundit Alan Hansen to claim, ‘You can’t win anything with kids’.
Jurgen Klinsmann’s debut Tottenham goal and ‘dive’ celebration came third in the survey (11.1%), ahead of the likes of Sadio Mane’s wondergoal vs Arsenal in 2016, and Ravanelli’s hattrick for Middlesbrough in 1996.
Phil Williams, Chief Marketing Officer at SportsBroker, commented: “Memorable moments shape a season for any club and ahead of the new campaign starting.
