The mobile screening unit will only be in the Brinnington area until the end of August 2016 so it’s really important that women take this opportunity.

We encourage everyone to take up this opportunity as screening can help you to stay healthy.

Sadly one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some time in their life. 80% of breast cancers occur in women over 50. The risk of breast cancer rises as women get older.

All the members of staff onsite will be women and you are welcome to bring a friend or relative with you to your appointment. If you have not yet received an appointment please call the office on 01625 661157 or contact your GP Surgery.

If you are over 70 and have not been screened for over 3 years you are also welcome to request an appointment on 01625 661157.

Councillor Tom McGee, Executive member for Health said: “I urge women to go along to the mobile breast screening unit, it is very important to get regular checks. It can help you stay healthy and could also mean finding a cancer at an early stage making it easier to treat and stay well as a result.

“The unit is only around till the end of August, so don’t miss your chance to get a screening.”
