A resident at an Altrincham based care home was given a surprise party to celebrate his 101st birthday.
Denis Hilton, who lives at MHA Handsworth, recently celebrated his birthday and staff members at the home made sure it was a day to remember for him.
Mr Hilton has been living at the home, which provides residential care for 43 residents, for six months.
Denis became deaf at the age of eight and went to a school for the deaf where he learnt sign language to help him communicate
The surprise party consisted of a birthday cake, balloons, a wonderful spread and plenty of birthday cards.
Speaking after the party, Denis said: “I really enjoyed my birthday party and felt very spoiled.
“It was a very nice surprise and I really enjoyed myself.
“I want to thank all the staff members who made the effort for me and I am very happy with how the day went.
“In my opinion the key to a long life is living it to the fullest and I can say I have definitely been given the opportunity to do that.
“I am really enjoying my time here and the staff are fantastic”
Leanne Whitworth, activity coordinator said: “Denis enjoys interacting with others and still enjoys his exercises every morning.
“He always joins in with activities and likes to keep active and busy.”
