On Time to Talk Day Thursday 2nd February Stockport Council is encouraging Stockport residents to talk about mental health

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem every year – that means that, right now, one of our friends, colleagues or loved ones is going through it.

Too many people with mental health problems are however made to feel worthless or isolated. When you’re going through a mental health problem, you need your friends, loved ones and colleagues more than ever.
Being open about mental health and ready to listen can make a positive difference to someone’s life.]

Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be difficult. It can be as simple as making time to have a cup of tea or go for a walk, and listening to someone talk about how they feel.

Councillor Tom McGee, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Health said “Time to Talk Day will hopefully kick start a conversation about mental health and encourage people to talk about it all year round. We all need to find the courage to start to talk and listen to those suffering mental distress. We need to let men know in particular that it’s okay to admit how they are really feeling and not be afraid to seek the help they need.”
