Stockport Council is encouraging organisations working to keep young people away from the criminal justice system to see if they could benefit from a new £500,000 fund.
- Stockport Council
Launched by the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner, the Youth Aspiration Fund is offering grants to community and voluntary organisations who are providing support and encouragement to vulnerable young people as they seek to live a life away from crime and anti-social behaviour. Whilst also seeking to prevent reoffending through working with families, schools, communities and partnerships.
Community and voluntary organisations across Greater Manchester have until Thursday 19th January 2017 to bid for monies to support their work. Grants of up to £5,000 are available for organisations offering support independently, however larger grants of up to £30,000 are available for organisations working in partnership with their Local Authority.
Councillor Colin Foster, Executive Member for Children and Family Services at Stockport Council said: “This approach to supporting proactive interventions at community level can really change the course of young people’s lives.
“Whilst most of the funding is for small grants, the projects they go towards can make the difference between young people going down the wrong path or achieving their potential.
“There are a range of community and voluntary groups in Stockport which can benefit from this and I would urge any interested organisations to apply. “
