MANCHESTER Science Partnerships (MSP), the UK’s leading science and technology park operator, has agreed a landmark partnership with Manchester’s historic Museum of Science and Industry underlining Manchester’s commitment to be an internationally renowned science city and hotbed of innovation.


The deal crowns a milestone 2016 for science in the city region. Manchester is currently the European City of Science and was also the focal point for scientific research, debate and discussion during the summer when it hosted the European Science Open Forum (ESOF).

This year MSP underlined its commitment to the city region as it announced plans during ESOF to invest £60m in expanding Citylabs its bio-medical centre of excellence, while the company is also at the heart of leading-edge tech innovation through its involvement with the CityVerve partnership, the pioneering smart cities demonstrator.

MSP has been a long term supporter of the Manchester Science Festival, produced each year by the Museum of Science and Industry, and has now extended its relationship with the museum.

In October  MSP sponsored and hosted the ‘Art and Science of Dementia’ debate at  Citylabs 1.0 to celebrate the 10thanniversary of the Manchester Science Festival, an event which attracted more than 120 people and helped to raise public awareness of dementia.

Over the next year, the partnership will see MSP work with the museum to promote and host inspiring events and develop closer links between the museum and leaders in industry. The partnership will also see MSP develop its relationship with the Manchester Science Festival, and support the new Trans Pennine STEM Ambassador Hub – an important programme to inspire the next generation to enjoy and undertake STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) subjects.
