Having undergone extensive refurbishment by Trafford Council and Market Operations Ltd. of almost £1million in 2014, Altrincham has secured itself a position as one of the regions most popular market and leisure destinations.

Cllr John Reilly, Executive Member for Economic Growth, Environment and Infrastructure, said: “Trafford Council’s investment across the borough, especially in key town centres such as Altrincham, has seen a major boost in the regions economy. It is superb that Altrincham Market Traders have been awarded this fantastic honour by the Altrincham and Sale Chamber of Commerce, and that the outstanding local quality of the produce has been recognised in this way.”

Sue Aldridge, CEO of Altrincham and Sale Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is a fabulous tribute to one of Greater Manchester’s, if not the North’s most unique venues.  I’m very proud to have the Market House located in Altrincham.  The award is very well deserved, the Market House has transformed the centre of our Town and Nick, Jenny and the team are a pleasure to work with.”

Since its redevelopment in 2014, Altrincham Market has become a popular choice with residents and visitors from across the North West and further afield. The market won national acclaim in 2015 after being recognised by the Observer Food Monthly Awards as the nations Best Market and now sees thousands enjoying the celebration of the markets regional culture each week.

Cllr Reilly continued: “Trafford Council is immensely proud that it has been able to contribute to enabling Altrincham Market become the thriving community that it is today. The funding for the market is part of a wider Trafford Council public realm enhancement project, aimed at revitalizing and rejuvenating Altrincham’s town centre, increasing prosperity, and improving the experience of visitors and users of the town.”
