Trafford’s towns and main shopping areas’ festive fundraising campaigns are in full swing, as community groups continue their efforts to ensure their local areas provide a special Christmas experience.

The Give It For Trafford (GIFT) campaign, launched in September, is helping to support the groups to create a sparkling atmosphere in town centres this Christmas.

Residents and businesses have been making donations through the individual fundraising campaigns, with some groups having almost hit their targets already, including the Crowdfunding Campaigns for the Urmston Partnership and We Are Sale Moor which will see their shopping areas festooned with Christmas lights this year.

No donation is too small, so this is one fundraiser everyone can participate in.

Executive Member for Economic Growth, Environment and Infrastructure, Cllr John Reilly, said: “Hearing of the successes of the individual fundraising campaigns is incredible. Knowing that so many Trafford residents and businesses are embracing the festive spirit and are working together to creating sparkling Christmas is extremely satisfying.

Our local town centres and business rely heavily on the income generated over the festive trading period, so creating a special experience for shoppers is vitally important

Each of Trafford’s town centres has something unique to offer its visitors, and with the fundraising campaigns drawing to a close, the groups are asking for your support to help them to raise sufficient funds to light up their shopping areas with some great Christmas lighting displays this year.”

Some of the towns and shopping areas across Trafford will be holding Switch On celebration events, with dates already in place for the following towns:

Urmston on Friday, 18th November
Altrincham on Saturday, 19th November
Sale Moor on Sunday, 20th November
Sale on Saturday, 26th November
