Your local town centres and shopping areas offer a range of independent, specialist and high street businesses to help you make the most of Christmas this year.

To help create a special seasonal shopping experience, the Council is supporting local groups to raise funds for Christmas lights for their towns and shopping areas.

The full list of groups working hard to raise funds is:

Altrincham – Altrincham Unlimited (the Altrincham Business Improvement District company)

Ashton on Mersey – Friends of Ashton Village

Hale – Hale Business Association

Stretford – M32

Timperley – Timperley Vision

Urmston – Urmston Partnership

Through the Give It For Trafford (GIFT) campaign, local people and businesses can make donations through the individual fundraising campaigns knowing that their money will be helping to support their local areas.

This is one fundraiser everyone can participate in.

Executive Member for Economic Growth, Environment and Infrastructure, Cllr John Reilly, said: “Good Christmas trading is vitally important for our local town centre businesses. Offering fantastic shopping and leisure opportunities across the Borough, it is no wonder that Trafford remains such a popular location during the festive season, supported by the fundraising campaigns of local groups. Each of our towns and local shopping areas offers its own unique experience and we want to see this popularity continue this year.”

Between now and 7th October 2016, donations to the individual community group’s fundraising efforts can be made via the links on www.traffordpartnership.org/GIFT where you can also find out more about the campaigns.
