As temperatures in the workplace soar to new heights, new research released by HSS Hire has revealed that rising temperatures means Trafford Park men are putting functionality before fashion as the heat discloses fashion faux pas in the office.
A study of 2,000 UK adults by HSS Hire, the national tool and equipment hire company, found that almost half of Brits (49%) say colleagues dress inappropriately when the sun comes out with more than 27% of men in Trafford Park and in North West sporting short shorts in a bid to stay cool.
The retailer, with branches in the North West, has seen an increase of more than 92% in sales of fans and air conditioning units – overall sales have doubled since 20 July and trebled since 1 June, as offices reach sweltering temperatures.
Across the rest of the country, one in five Brits wildly object to Crocs and think they should be banned in an office environment, a favourite faux pas for West Midlands men (29%) and London lads (22%).
Meanwhile, the classic socks and flip flop combo is favoured by East Midlands fellas (27%) and the rise of muscle bound vests in the North East hits the top spot (43%) along with South West (33%) and West Midlands (31%) men. However, North West chaps (27%) favour the increasingly popular ‘short shorts’ look while East Anglia males (14%) enjoy wearing linen trousers to work.
