The leisure trust’s Get in2 team invites people to browse through their activity brochure and try something new this summer.
The booklet is packed with low cost and free activities and is available at St Peter’s Leisure Centre and to view online at www.burnleyleisure.co.uk/home/get-in2/csaf .
Sam Dixon, Burnley Leisure’s sports activator, said: “This year our programme is bursting with fantastic things to do whether you’re interested in volunteering, playing football, or simply trying our gym facilities.
“With school holidays finally here, youngsters will have plenty activities to choose from to keep boredom at bay. I’d like to encourage everyone to get hold of our brochure and give our sessions a go!”
For 14-25 year olds there will be a free football camp taking place every Tuesday starting next week. Based at Prairie Sports Village on the new 3G pitch, football matches and tournaments will kick off at 1.30pm.
Free kayaking sessions will take place in Thompson Park every Tuesday and Thursday from 2nd August. People are invited to have a whale of a time paddling round the boating lake at the two-hour sessions starting at 10am.
Those into more active sports will have a chance to battle it out with archery, dodgeball, table tennis and pickleball at the mini sports festival starting from 8th August.
Based at St Peter’s Leisure Centre, the three-week festival will run every Monday between 1pm and 3pm. It costs £1 for per session.
All participants who attend the festival and show good commitment will get the chance to attend the Street Games Festival in Manchester.
The programme has also a special treat for professional golfers and novices. They can claim a free 50 golf ball voucher for Prairie Sports Village by contacting Sam on 01282 425011 ext3228 or by email sdixon@burnley.gov.uk.
If you’re feeling inspired by recent Tour de France and thought about trying cycling then you are in luck.
Instructor-led Get in2 cycling sessions will start on 3rd August and take people through Burnley’s picturesque parks and along the Leeds Liverpool canal.
The free sessions will run every Tuesday and Friday 1-2pm until Friday, 2nd September.
There are a lot of other things on offer including volunteering, introduction to golf course for ladies, and buggy bootcamp.
All activities listed in the brochure are for people 14 years old and over. For more information about the sessions please contact Sam with the contact details above
