Following the King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th May, Lancashire developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West teamed up with a group of nursery pupils to create their very own crowns.

The homebuilder hosted a crown design competition at Cliff House Nursery in Ribbleton and a number of stunning entries were submitted. In the end, two-year-old Laurelle was chosen as the winner.

As the winner of the competition, a small ceremony was held in the nursery with Laurelle’s teachers and friends to crown her, which gave the children an idea of what to expect from the King’s Coronation. Adorned in a royal robe with sceptre in hand, Laurelle was coronated with her own crown.

Sarah McGladrigan, Principal at Cliff House Nursery, said: “Small children love being let loose with paint, glue and pom poms! So, when a local developer asked if we would like to team up and take part in a crown making competition, I knew the children would have loads of fun.

“The children taking part are very young, only two to four-years-old. They thoroughly enjoyed making their own crowns and some of their creations were really quite Avant Garde!”

Philippa Stewart, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “It’s extremely important to us when building new communities that we’re also working with and support local establishments and organisations.

“We wanted to share our excitement for the King’s Coronation, and the staff and children at Cliff House Nursery matched their enthusiasm for the project with their stunning creativity.

“It was an absolute delight to crown Laurelle as the Queen for the Day and we look forward to carrying out more projects and activities in the area.”
