Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to Ribble Valley Crossroads Care in Clitheroe to help cover some of its services.
Ribble Valley Crossroads Care is a not-for-profit charity which provides domiciliary care to those residing in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. As well as domiciliary care, the charity also offers companionship and respite for the carers of loved ones who suffer with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Barratt Homes’ donation was made as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
Part of the donation made by David Wilson Homes will be dedicated to the Christmas lunch for the ‘Men’s Pub Group’, which is a group set up with the intention aiding male carers that may face loneliness.
The remainder of the donation will fund the charity’s ‘Campfire and Conversation’ group. Held in the grounds of Whalley Abbey, the group was set up for those with memory loss and their carers.
Emma Sorrell, Administrative Assistant at Ribble Valley Crossroads Care, said: “Our work is incredibly important as it not only provides help and support with personal care, meal prep and medication administration, but also companionship, comfort and reassurance and respite to vulnerable people in and around the Ribble Valley.
“Crossroads Care currently supports approximately 200 service users and their respective families and carers per year through our domiciliary care services and extended community groups. We are proud of the service we provide and have an excellent reputation in the Ribble Valley area.”
Whilst many organisations were forced to close down during the pandemic, Ribble Valley Crossroads Care saw its services become of greater urgency than ever.
As families and loved ones became separated and were unable to properly support each other, the dedicated team of Care Support Workers worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to bring comfort and support to those in need.
Ribble Valley Crossroads Care is located near to the developers’ Waddow Heights (Barratt) and Waddow Heights (DWH) developments in Clitheroe.
Emma continued: “Donations to local charities and organisations are incredibly important and are always very gratefully received. As a not-for-profit charity, every single penny we earn goes straight back into the local community, so donations enable our finances to go that little bit further.
“This means that we are able to reach even more people in need within the community of the Ribble Valley, providing local help for local people.
“The Management and Trustees of Ribble Valley Crossroads Care would like to offer their heartfelt thanks the David Wilson Homes’ North West Community Fund for the generous donation.”
Rob Holbrook, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “As a leading developer, donating to organisations and charities in the areas in which we build is vital, and Ribble Valley Crossroads Care is certainly deserving of support.
“The work carried out by the charity is extremely important and we are more than happy to provide the support needed for those who have made such a positive impact in their communities.”
