ONE lucky first time buyer could find a new home in Southport is easier to afford than they realised thanks to Help to Buy.

The Government-backed equity loan scheme, which closes to new applicants on October 31, is available exclusively on new build homes, including selected properties at Balmoral Gardens.

It offers buyers the chance to take out a 20% Government-backed equity loan, interest-free for five years. Using the scheme, means eligible purchasers should only need a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage to secure a new build home.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, explained: “Help to Buy has proved invaluable to people stepping onto the property ladder and buying their first home, including a number of our homeowners at Balmoral Gardens in Southport. The scheme is closing to new applicants at the end of the October and we have just one property still available at Balmoral Gardens which is eligible for the equity loan scheme. We’d encourage anyone who’s been saving for a deposit for their first home in Southport to contact us to find out more about how Help to Buy could enable them to become homeowners.”

The home eligible for Help to Buy is a two-bedroom mid-mews Beeston style property, priced from £199,995.

The Beeston features a lounge at the front, with combined kitchen and dining room at the rear of the property with direct access out to the garden via French doors. Subject to build stage, the buyer will be able to select from a range of stylish, modern kitchens.

A cloakroom completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a bathroom.

“The Beeston is an ideal first home – perfect for a single person, couple or a young family,” Marie added.

“Those who don’t need two bedrooms could use one as study if they work from home for at least part of the week or perhaps a dressing room or a gym. It’s your space to choose how to use to fit your lifestyle.”

For those looking for a larger home, Balmoral Gardens also offers three and four-bedroom homes.

The development, on Balmoral Drive, in the village of Churchtown, offers a chance to be part of an established community with a choice of schools, plus specialist shops, tea rooms and gastro pubs nearby.

The beach is just five miles away, while those who work in the cities of Liverpool, Manchester or Preston could find that it’s a great commuter base.

Show homes at Balmoral Gardens are open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. Find out more via www.elan-homes.co.uk/developments/balmoral-gardens or 01704776955.
