A Bolton based care home organised a trip to Manchester Airport for residents as part of their Seize the Day Initiative.
MHA Beechville care home organised the trip for two residents, Graham Chester and Charles Conway who showed an interest in aeroplanes when asked by staff what they wanted to do.
The Seize the Day initiative encourages residents to re-experience activities or events from the past or to do something they would like to do for the first time.
The home offers 63 places for residential and dementia care and arranged for members of the care team to accompany the two residents to Manchester Airport.
At the airport, the pair saw plenty of aeroplanes and even managed to go onto the Concorde, something they both really enjoyed
Natalie Ward, home manager said: “Graham who is living with dementia and Charles who lives on our residential suite told staff that they would love to go and see the planes, and both have an interest in them.
“Two of our care staff set out to arrange a day out for them both and managed to get tickets to go to Manchester Airport for the day
“Manchester Airport was the perfect location where they got to go onto a Concorde and have a full look around.
“The feedback from the staff and both Graham and Charles was just wonderful.
“They were truly looked after and were also provided with lots of hot and cold drinks, lunch, and ice creams
“Charles said it was an amazing experience and something he would do again.
“It’s so lovely seeing residents being able to get out and about and we will be planning so many more trips in the future.”
