Everyone loves a holiday, and for most of us the thought of stealing away for a few days is a dreamy prospect. The reality however is that holidays can be expensive, and while a big summer family vacation justifies the expense somewhat, not many of us can afford to whisk ourselves away more than once or twice a year if we’re lucky. But there are ways to find yourself a really good deal without having to compromise on luxury or location so we asked expert South West based holiday letting agents Luxury Coastal to share their top tips on how to do exactly that.

Time of Year

Sounds pretty obvious doesn’t it? But the time of year really does make a massive difference to the price of a holiday and while we know that school and bank holidays should be avoided, there are actually seriously ‘off-peak’ periods when a property will be at its very lowest price for the year. Try choosing numerous sets of dates on a website to sift out the cheapest, but early February and mid to late November is suggested for the lowest prices.

Avoid bank holidays and weekends

Following the previous tip it is of course wise to steer clear of any bank holiday weekends, but if possible, Saturdays and Sundays too. It’s best to book a bit of annual leave that covers two weekends as well as a working week so that you’re able to stay at your chosen property from a Monday to a Friday when, not only will be prices be lower but things should be quieter (which is ideal if you’re looking for a bit of rest and relaxation).

Book last minute

Properties that have last-minute gaps in their calendars are more likely to lower the price for a stay especially if the arrival is within a 48-hour period. If you’re looking to book a stay in Woodbridge, NJ, and want to save some money, you can check out Cloverleaf Gardens Apartments Woodbridge NJ. If the property hasn’t already had a last-minute discount applied to the price of the stay, it’s always worth contacting the marketing agent or owner to ask about a reduction. However, it’s prudent to bear in mind that property owners will still need to cover change-over costs like cleaning and water/electricity (in the case of properties with hot tubs), so any very low discount requests would probably not be considered.

Look out for eleventh hour cancellations on social media

There are various reasons why people would need to cancel their holidays at very short notice, and while this is extremely disappointing for anyone affected, it does means that some of the best properties can become available at the last minute. Luxury Coastal often post last minute cancellations on their Facebook and Instagram pages so it’s definitely worthwhile checking in every now and then to see if your favourite holiday home is available (with the possibility of it being at a reduced price as well).
