Pupils at Beech Hall School are looking forward to an action-packed spring term of educational events, fundraising fun and extra-curricular activities, some of which is thanks to Year 3 pupil Bentley Williams who recently spent the day as Headmaster.

Seven year old Bentley took the helm at the Tytherington-based school, where he was greeted by fellow colleagues and addressed by his classmates as Mr Williams. There was a busy agenda set for the day as Mr Williams commenced his new role, including leading a school assembly, presenting awards to pupils, touring a prospective family and making all-important decisions for the term ahead.

For his first decision, Bentley announced that this term’s own clothes day, held on the last day of school before half term, would be a Onesie Day with donations made for The Christie in Macclesfield. He also concluded that an infant and junior trip to Chester Zoo would be a highly beneficial outing, and used his powers during his day as Headmaster to fulfil what he believed to be an important addition to the curriculum – an afternoon play before home time.

James Allen, Headmaster at Beech Hall School commented: “In spite of the recent COVID resurgence, and all of the additional measures that we will be taking, we will be doing our best to ensure that the spring term provides as many enriching opportunities as possible for our pupils.

“Bentley’s contribution to the academic and extra-curricular calendar is highly valued and he did an admirable job as Headmaster for the day. At Beech Hall School we strive to empower our pupils and instil within them a confidence and a sense of responsibility, developing their independence, leadership and decision-making skills.”

In addition to Bentley’s Onesie Day, whole-school charity opportunities this term will also include the Crisis Icebreaker Challenge in the school’s very own outdoor swimming pool and Red Nose Day in March. There are many sporting House matches to look forward to as well as the highly-anticipated pupils v. staff netball, football and volleyball matches.

Subject to the continuation of residential trips, Lower and Upper V pupils are excited for a long weekend in North Wales, and the challenge of the Inter-House Arts Competition beckons for the last two days of the spring term.
