A team of volunteers from Debt Recovery Plus (DRP), part of the Bristow & Sutor Group, have been donating their time this week to ‘Fuel 4 Fun’, run by Active Tameside. This initiative is aimed at tackling food poverty and social inequalities for thousands of young people and their families across the region and provides food parcels for families experiencing hardship as well as children that usually receive free school meals.

The scheme will feed 750 families over the course of a week and in just one day, members of staff from DRP have managed to pack over 500 boxes. Each family that is part of the initiative receives a box of supplies containing 5 evenings’ meals including all the ingredients needed for a full Christmas dinner. The scheme supports families from all over Tameside and since launching earlier this year has fed over 10,000 families. Members of staff from DRP have been tasked with unloading food and packing this into delivery boxes. 12 employees have volunteered their time and energy so far, helping to ensure as many items as possible are packed and ready to be provided to those in need.

Samantha Wilson, Business Support Coordinator at DRP says, “At DRP, we engage with people facing challenging circumstances daily and understand the difficulties many will endure over the festive period. It is incredibly important to support those in need and this has become even more important considering recent times. We are proud of our community spirit and wanted to donate our time to this worthy cause. Everybody at DRP has been so impressed that we intend on helping out with this campaign even more in future. These initiatives make a real impact locally and we are delighted to be able to support in any way we can.”

DRP is a member of the Bristow & Sutor Group, also comprising of Credit Style

Members of staff across all three businesses regularly volunteer for charitable causes and this year funds have been raised for the likes of The Money Charity, Stop Domestic Abuse and AdviceUK.
