The beauty industry can be a very fulfilling industry to work in, especially when you are given the opportunity to make your customers feel better about the way they look, which can be very important to the body-conscious, or those that feel uncomfortable about their image.

The beauty industry is an industry that has existed for a very long time, as there is always the need for hairdressers, and there always will be. The desire to make the human body unique and beautiful can also be found within the role of the tattooist – a role that has been also around for thousands of years, an industry that will see a boom again with the downturn of the pandemic, and a rekindling of the desire to be individual again. The role of the therapist, whether holistic or beautician, is also a growing art and will be even more so when the pandemic ends.

Hairdresser

Being a hairdresser does not just start or stop with actually working with hair. You will have to be a people person. One of the main roles of being a hairdresser is being able to talk to people as well as be a good listener.

Regardless of whether you want to become a ladies hairdresser or a gents barber, you will have to gain the qualifications either by attending college full-time or going the apprentice route.

Once you have gained your qualification, it is then up to you whether you want to stay within a salon environment or whether you want to strike out on your own and become a mobile hairdresser attending your clients at their home addresses.

Tattooist

A tattooist is a little different. They need concentration so they may not be so chatty as a hairdresser. However, designing and transferring pieces of art and design onto a person’s body and fulfilling your client’s vision of beauty is very much within the beauty industry and requires a high level of expertise.

When it comes to advising your clients about the procedure that they are about to undergo and the products such as the tattoo ink sourced from a reputable business, which will be used to define and colour their chosen design, you will need to seriously know your stuff. It is highly important that you have the correct licenses and insurances as well as the desired level of training before you attempt this invasive therapy.

Beauty or holistic therapist

You will also need to hold qualifications in order to become a beauty therapist or a holistic therapist. Both are very satisfying careers, especially if you enjoy the gift of giving. Beauty therapy is generally more in line with the beauty aspect, facials, waxing, manicures, and pedicures, for example. Whereas holistic therapies are more spiritually based and include different massages just as aromatherapy massage, Indian head massage, and hot stones, for instance.

Holistic therapies take the body and spirit as a whole. You will find that there many different elements to holistic therapies, such as the rebalancing of the chakras and the sense of wellbeing from within.
