Three members of staff at Beaumont College, Lancaster, have spent their time during lockdown getting creative and have made batches of PPE for local businesses.

Debs Sibilla, tutor, Robyn Powley, learning support, and Belinda Wolfendale, nurse, have made 1600 face masks and 1000 headbands between them to help keep key workers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

1000 masks were sent to the Salutem head office, the business which operates Beaumont College, for use by the families of front-line workers within the company. The remaining 600 masks and 1000 headbands were then shared between other key worker organisations including Lancaster Royal Infirmary, Great Ormond Street children’s charity, St John’s Hospice and care in the community agencies.

Pam Murphy, principal at Beaumont College, said: “This is a wonderful act of compassion and selflessness from Debs, Robyn and Belinda. The staff are an asset to our college, and they should be very proud of their achievements.

“Many key worker organisations have been hugely assisted by public donations of PPE and I’m sure they were very well received.”

John Godden, CEO of Salutem, said: “The staff who have made this PPE for key workers and their families are a shining example of everything we stand for at Salutem. We are always teaching our service users about the importance of compassion and generosity.

“Debs, Robyn and Belinda have exceeded all expectations by producing more than 2500 units of PPE throughout the current pandemic, they should be incredibly proud of themselves.”
