Ebac, the UK’s leading manufacturer of domestic and industrial dehumidifiers is urging people affected by the recent flooding in Wirral to take care when drying out their homes or offices.
Recovery from the inclement weather could be hampered by the onset of colder weather, reducing the options many people have for drying out their properties.
John Elliott, chairman of Ebac, said: “Much advice is given on tackling the problem of drying out a building, including ventilation and heating but these need to be done with care. Heating will help but it needs to controlled, too much heat can cause cracks to appear, drying needs to be done slowly and evenly.
“As a guide don’t raise the air inside the house more than 7 deg C above the outside temperature and keep it as even as possible throughout the home. A dehumidifier will help to give an even drying because it draws moisture from the entire space and is much less severe than heat alone.
“Flooding can cause a lot of distress, as we have witnessed over recent days with the uncommonly bad periods of torrential rain and the problems which have followed.
“Even when the surface water is gone soaked structures need to be completely dried before you can even think about decorating let alone occupation.”
Ebac has been the number one UK manufacturer of dehumidifiers since 1980. Products in the Ebac dehumidifier range are specifically designed for the UK climate to give optimum performance.
