Going on a run or heading to the gym in this weather can often be something you dread. Motivation definitely lacks in the winter in comparison to summer, and with all the nice festive foods coming out from our favourite stores, you’re probably going to think, ‘well, I’m going to gain a few extra pounds anyway so I may as well go all out.’
Here are three tips on how you can stay motivated and keeping on with exercising over the colder months:
1. Take Progress Photos
Sometimes, the scales just aren’t enough to tell you that the pounds are dropping. If you stay the same or gain weight a few weeks in a few, then chances are, you’ll feel demotivated. Don’t forget, that you’ll be gaining muscle and the best way to measure and track your success is through progress photos. This way, you can always look back and see what you’ve accomplished.
2. Make it Less Boring
Of course, your motivation and performance can fluctuate from day to day. Sometimes, you will feel fit and full of energy and on other days, you will feel weak and lack energy. Try mixing up your gym routine or going along with a friend or family member. Doing the same routine over again wiill make you bored and will make you hate going to the gym.
3. The Time of Your Workout
The best times to workout from a motivation level are either as soon as you wake up, as you know you can get it straight out of the way, or as soona as you’ve finished work. As soon as you go home and make dinner and get comfortable, you’re not going to want to go back out in the cold and head to the gym. Timing is everything.
