Team members from Co-op Funeralcare and Food stores in Sale have raised funds for half a dozen charities at two local community events.

Co-op colleagues raised £187 for MacMillan, British Heart Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK and Stockdales at RHS Village in Bloom and the annual Picnic in the Park event.

Staff at Co-op’s RE Jones Funeralcare and Co-op food stores treated the local community to some sweet treats baked by colleagues and a teddy bear raffle.

Leyton Moores, funeral director at RE Jones Co-op Funeralcare says: “It was fantastic to see so many people turn out for such a worthwhile cause, and we’re incredibly proud of the community cohesion and spirit we’ve seen.

“We’d like to thank everyone who helped us raise the funds, especially local charities Friends of Coppice Library, Everyone Can, CFC Altrincham and 4 Cheeky Monkeys CIC, who offered their extensive support. We’re always looking for ways to support charities and we look forward to attending similar events throughout the year!”

With over 1,000 funeral homes across the UK, the Co-op Funeralcare colleagues are passionate about delivering a sensitive, caring and professional service for families within their community.

Thanks to Co-op’s 1% scheme, a total of £19m has been raised for key local causes across the UK since November 2017.
